FRP Products – A safer way to think

There are many types of materials used for structures, platforms and flooring, across many different industries, not all provide outstanding safe performance. Steel, Aluminium and timber are common traditional building materials, but fail to offer the same performance as similar FRP products.

These traditional materials can deteriorate over time, which not only requires expensive maintenance but can increase the risk of a safety issue. Which could lead to a potential injury and lost time. Fiberglass reinforced polymer products can offer greater safety for any industry.

How long does FRP grating last - Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer grating

Grating

Grating is often used for walking surfaces for many different applications. Ensuring that the product is not only long lasting, but provides a safe non-slip surface. FRP grating is available in a range of mesh sizes and non-slip finishes that can be tailored to most applications.

Fibreglass reinforced polymer moulded grating is resistant to the harshest environments and is suitable for immersion in water/sea water.

These moulded gratings carry a flame-spread index (rating) of 25 or less when tested in accordance with the ASTM E-84 standard, while also meeting the ASTM D-635 extinguishing requirements.

They are available in a standard colour range of safety yellow, green, charcoal and light grey. Custom colours are available, subject to lead time.

Handrail Systems

Another important safety feature of many industrial sites and plants is a handrail system. Providing safe access and preventing falls.

FRP handrail systems, are corrosion and chemical resistant. They also do not conduct heat or electricity. These advanced systems are designed and manufactured to be easily installed. Fiberglass reinforced polymer Handrail components are lightweight and easy to fabricate on-site. After installation they also require virtually zero maintenance. They also comply with all relevant Australian standards.

FRP Ladders

Ladders

Similarly to handrail systems, ladders are needed to provide safe access to plant and equipment. FRP ladders offer outstanding resistance to harsh chemical environments.  They can designed to conform with the Australian Standard AS1657-2018.

They are also lightweight, easy to transport and install onsite. As with the grating and handrails, they also require virtually zero maintenance.

Cages, platforms and retractable arms can also be fabricated from FRP,  which allows the ladders to be tailored to suit almost any application.

Walkways and Access Platforms

The grating, handrails and ladders can be combined for walkways and access platforms producing safe bespoke installations that comply with the highest standards.

FRP fabrication

On top of the safety aspect of FRP products there are numerous other advantages including:

Lightweight – Making installation easier and on many occasions faster. Specialist tools are also not required and can be fabricated using standard tools.

Low Maintenance – Unlike traditional materials that require repainting or coating, FRP products will be looking great year after year.

Low Lifecycle Cost – With easier installation, low maintenance and long service life the overall lifecycle cost is significantly lower than with similar steel or aluminium constructions.

It is time to start thinking safety – FRP the safe choice.
