Case Study: South Wharf Decking Replacement
MaxiGRATE from Composite Engineering was selected to replace the existing timber walkway located at South Wharf, the home of Polly Woodside.
We worked closely with the Department of Jobs, Precincts & Regions, to fully understand the requirements of the project. The area of walkway that needed replacing is popular with constant high foot traffic, hence the need to have a non-slip and safe surface. The installation also had to be done quickly to minimise any public disruption. The current timber decking was rotten and rattling, making it unsafe to walk on.
After understanding the issues and requirements the 22mm MaxiGRATE Micro Mesh FRP Grating with a fine grit finish to provide the required non slip finish was selected as the most suitable for this application.
The 30m x 2.7m section of timber walkway was removed and replaced with MaxiGRATE in just 3 days.
